Testosterone Replacement Therapy Program

Picture
Testosterone is a hormone that is important for maintaining both sexual drive and performance in men. Andropause, or Low-T as some call it, is a result of the naturally occurring decrease in male hormone production with age. When testosterone becomes too low men can experience many symptoms including loss of sex drive, inability to achieve and maintain an erection, and decrease in sensitivity.

Andropause is similar to the female condition of Menopause, but is generally less sudden or severe. In women, the body’s production of the estrogen hormone stops completely creating an abrupt surge of easily recognized symptoms. Men experiencing Andropause, on the other hand, may begin to see less clearly defined physical and psychological symptoms such as a gradual increase in erectile difficulties, waning sex drive, unexplained gradual weight-gain, depression, and fatigue among other problems.

As a part of the natural aging process, testosterone levels decrease in men approximately 10% every decade once they have reached their mid-30s. Some men begin to notice symptoms of andropause by their mid-40s, and approximately 30% will notice symptoms in their 50s. Both physical and psychological symptoms can be significant by the age of 65.

Common Signs You May be Experiencing Low Testosterone
Some men may experience sudden drops in testosterone levels due to an underlying medical condition, but hormone levels in men may also decline naturally as they age, beginning as early as 40 and continuing into their 70s. This means that you may not realize that symptoms like moodiness, weight gain, or sexual dysfunction are a result of low-T, as they can manifest slowly and then subtly become more of a gradual problem.
Symptoms of low testosterone include:
  • Diminished sex drive
  • Hair loss
  • Muscle loss and weakness
  • Weight (fat) gain
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Lethargy and fatigue
  • Irritability or depression
  • Poor memory and/or concentration
  • Diminished confidence or general well-being
